We have a problem

The first step is admitting your have a problem, right? Well, our name is the Simmons and we are bargain-aholis. We love a good deal and Saturday is Yard Sale day, I was busy but I'd read about a yard sale at a local storage unit place. We couldn't miss it, right? So I sent Kyle alone. It turns out they were auctioning off the entire contents of storage units where people had faulted on rent. The most expensive unit went for $300 and seemed to have some cool loot. The trick was you got the ENTIRE contents of the storage unit, and you could only peek from outside, you couldn't actually go inside the unit before bidding. Poor Kyle offered a meek $10 bid on a storage unit and won! He said he regretted it instantly, but we regretted it even more once he got to look around at our new loot. Some other tricks- he had 36 hours to get everything out, or then they'd start charging HIM daily rent for the use of their storage unit. So we spent all afternoon Saturday clearing things out. It was so bad we could only laugh or cry- luckily we spent a lot of time doubled over in laughter. The few things that had caught Kyle's eye and led to his big bid turned out to be not so great- the trampoline had holes, the food storage was old, and the mysterious large metal chest held only a rusty dutch oven. It was like being given the entire contents of someone's really bad yard sale, the kind we wouldn't even stop to pilfer through. After 3 truck loads to the DI, and 2 to unsuspecting dumpsters around town (it was Saturday night, the dump was closed) the things nifty enough to keep include a 6 ft tall Christmas tree made from horseshoes, a lifesize cardboard cutout of George Strait, a box full of football cards (cross your fingers, maybe they're worth something), a crib we don't need, and a few other treasures you may be receiving at holiday events later this year. So for a mere $10 we were able to spend our entire weekend exhausting ourselves and unloading someone else's dirty storage unit. The worst part is Kyle's now on their mailing list, and after seeing some people win storage units with really cool stuff, I think he just might do it again.

You guys really know how to spend a Saturday! It sounds like a lot more fun than I had getting the garden boxes ready to plant.
